CLNC Services

Legal Nurse Consulting is a specialty within the field of nursing. A legal nurse consultant understands the nuances of the medical world and can identify subtleties in the medical records that a non-medical professional might not.  A Certified Legal Nurse Consultant provides  a variety of analytical services with cases that are medical malpractice,  personal injury, product and pharmaceutical liability, toxic and environmental tort, worker's compensation and any case involving health or injury. Once we identify the nature of the case, we will then provide the following Certified Legal Nurse Consultant (CLNC) services:

Assess Medical Records and Analyze the Case
  •  Identify and review medical records, hospital policy and procedures, other essential documents and tangible items  
  • Screen cases for merit
•    Define the applicable standard of care
•    Detail deviations from and adherence to the applicable standards of care
•    Organize, tab, and paginate the medical records
•    Summarize, translate, and interpret medical records
  • Prepare chronologies of the medical events involved in the case
  • Assess the alleged damages and/or injuries
  • Identify causation issues, assess damages/injuries and identify contributing factors
  • Identify potential expert witnesses
  • Identify issues of tampering in the medical record
  • Develop written reports based on the attorneys's preference

Support the Attorney's Case
•   Conduct literature searches and integrating the literature and standards of care into the case analysis
  • Attend Defense Medical Examinations/Independent Medical Examinations (DME/IME)

Serve as the Attorney's Liaison
  • Interview plaintiff and defense clients, key witnesses and experts
  • Consult with health care providers
  • Serve as liaison between the attorney and health care providers, testifying experts, witnesses and other consultants

Work with Experts and Other Witnesses
  • Locate potential expert witnesses
  • Communicate with potential testifying experts
  • Analyze and compare expert witness reports and other work products
  • Help prepare witnesses and experts for deposition and trial

Assist with Discovery and Preparation for Court
  • Prepare interrogatories
  • Review, analyze and summarize depositions
  • Assist in exhibit preparation
  • Attend depositions, trials, review panels, arbitration and mediation panels
  • Assist in resolution of cases through alternative dispute resolution (ADR), such as arbitration and mediation
